Will Disney Keep Gambling out of Florida?

It is no surprise that Disney is a huge powerhouse when it comes to making decisions in Florida. So the fact that they are against the construction of three, 2 billion dollar resorts in Dade and Broward Counties (South Florida, where Disney is NOT located) is really starting to make some people mad.

According to an article I read at http://www.nytimes.com/, unemployment is high, state revenue is low, so these casinos would actually mean great things for the state, but it would also mean less people going to Disney, and do you really think Disney cares about the rest of Florida, no.

Florida politicians continue to debate over the bill that could possibly bring tens of thousands of jobs, as well as millions of dollars in tax revenue.

A company out of Malaysia, The Genting Corporation, paid $236 million cash for the Miami Herald Headquarters, and also purchased neighboring properties. They have also talked about fixing highways, and partnering with neighborhood entertainment.

This plan would actually be the largest yet for the United States, so why is everyone not on board? My guess is it is highly unfamiliar. The only casinos in Florida are quaint Seminole-run casinos, as well as racinos.

Gov. Rick Scott, who campaigned on the promise of fulfilling jobs, does not want to rely on the gambling industry.
